General Cleaning Descale Process

General Cleaning

• CLEAN ME! will be displayed on LCD to indicate when a cleaning cycle is required (approx. 200 shots).
• Insert the grey silicone cleaning disc into the portafilter and lock the portafilter into the group head.
• Ensure the water tank is filled with cold water and the drip tray is empty.
• Press MENU button and rotate the SELECT dial until 'CLEAN CYCLE' and 'PUSH' are displayed on the LCD screen.
• The CLEAN CYCLE icon will flash and the machine will start to countdown from 370 seconds. There will be periods when water will flow, then periods when water will not. The countdown will still continue during this time. This is normal.
• When the cleaning cycle has finished, run the cycle a second time. Ensure that a new tablet is placed in the cleaning disc.
• The cleaning cycle is now complete. Rinse the portafilter and filter basket thoroughly to remove any tablet residue before using.
• Press the 1 CUP button without any grounds in the portafilter to flush both the group head and the portafilter before resuming coffee extractions.
• Discard the used water filter. Soak a new filter in a cup of water for 5 minutes, then rinse under cold running water.
• Wash the water filter holder with cold water, taking specific care to rinse the stainless steel mesh.
• Insert the new water filter into the two parts of the water filter holder.
• Set Date Dial 2 months ahead.
• Once the steam wand is placed back into it's normal position, facing down towards the drip tray, it will do an automatic purge by forcing steam out of the tip a few times.
• If any of the holes in the tip of the steam wand become blocked, ensure the STEAM LEVER is in the OFF position and clean using the pin on the end of the steam tip cleaning tool.
• If steam wand remains blocked, remove the tip and soak, along with the end of the steam wand itself, using the provided steam wand cleaning powder.
• Mix one packet of the steam want cleaning powder into an empty milk frothing jug.
• Add in 1 cup of hot water.
• Remove the steam wand tip and place in the jug then submerge the end of the steam wand itself into the jug.
• Allow to soak for at least 20 minutes.
• Clean, rinse and replace the steam wand tip then place the wand back into the jug and activate the steam for 10 seconds.
• Allow to soak for another 5 minutes, periodically turning the steam on to help purge any blockage.
• Discard the solution, thoroughly rinse and dry the frothing jug.
• Purge the steam wand briefly, wipe and dry thoroughly.
• The filter baskets and portafilter should be rinsed under hot water directly after use to remove all residual coffee oils.
• If the holes in the filter baskets become blocked, dissolve a cleaning tablet in hot water and soak filter basket and portafilter in solution for approx. 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.
• Ensure that the drip tray is empty.
• Insert the grey silicone cleaning disc into the portafilter and lock into place in the group head.
• Press the 2 CUP button and allow pressure to build for 20 seconds.
• Stop the extraction by pressing the 2 CUP button again and unlock the portafilter momentarily.
• Re-lock the portafilter and repeat this 5 times to purge any fine grinds that may be left in the group head and remove any residual.
• Repeat daily.

• Unlock the hopper, remove any beans then replace and re-lock.
• Run the grinder until no further grounds come out.
• Unlock and remove the hopper then unlock and remove the upper burr.
• Clean the burr with the burr brush then clean out the lower burr with the same brush.
• Using the tamping fan removal magnet, remove the fan and clean the grind chute with the grind outlet brush then replace the fan.
• Replace and lock the upper burr into position then replace and lock the bean hopper into position.
• The group head interior and shower screen should be wiped with a damp cloth to remove any ground coffee particles.
• Periodically purge the machine with hot water with the filter basket and portafilter in place, without ground coffee, to rinse out any residual coffee.
• The drip tray should be removed, emptied and cleaned after each use or when the drip tray indicator is showing Empty Me!
• Remove grill from the drip tray. Wash both in warm soapy water.
• The storage tray can be removed and cleaned with a soft, damp cloth (do not use abrasive cleansers, pads or cloths which can scratch the surface).
• The outer housing and cup warming tray can be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth. Polish with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleansers, pads or cloths which can scratch the surface.

NOTE: Do not clean any of the parts or accessories in the dishwasher.
