Preventative Measures

  • If the bean hopper is not fully locked onto the top of the grinder, the GRIND TIME dial will NOT be illuminated and the grinder will not function.
  • Do not clean any of the grinder parts or accessories in the dishwasher.
  • Do not grind for overly long periods of time in the grinder. This will cause the machine to overheat, locking it from use until the motor has cooled sufficiently, usually about 30 minutes to an hour. The longest recommended grind time is for medium coarse drip coffee, at 4 seconds per cup for a 12 cup carafe. This time would be less then 50 seconds.
  • The grinder should never be run for more then 2 minutes at a time as anything longer can cause the motor to overheat. Allow the grinder to cool for 2 minutes after each session and if the machine does over heat and will not start, unplug it and allow it to cool for at least 20 minutes.

  • The Razor™ Dosing Tool that comes with the BCG600SIL Dose Control™ Pro is an adjustable one. The case surrounding it can be opened and the blades can be switched and even removed to allow for 50mm, 54mm, and even 58mm dose control in the portafilter. All three blade sizes are included with the grinder.
  • The grinder is also versatile on how the grinds come out. The portafilter holder can keep a tight grip on which ever portafilter you use, from 50mm to 54mm to 58mm. Also, this can be removed and the grinds container can be used to collect larger amounts of coffee grinds for use in French Press or drip coffee makers. Also, there is enough room in the wide stand that you can grind directly into your coffee filter if you so choose.
