Your Breville Gourmet Single Cup Brewer™ is a quality appliance made with the best materials. However, as with any machine, you have to look after it a little to make sure it can operate as it is intended to.

Routine Maintenance

    External Care

  • Using a soft damp cloth, carefully wipe down the outer housing of the brewer. Do not submerge any part of the housing or power cord in water or any other liquid.
  • Remove the drip tray and drip tray grill from the brewer. Wash each in warm soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. This should be done after every few cups are brewed.
  • Remove the water tank lid and water tank from the brewer. Wash each in warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Do not dry the interior of the water tank or lid. Lint can be left behind and get in the water if this is done. Dry the outside thoroughly and replace into the brewer.
    Internal Care

  • Run a ‘purge’ brew through the machine. With no K-Cup® or My K-Cup® Filter in the brew head, close the brew head and brew a large cup. This will help in purging out any coffee grounds that may be in the brew head.
  • Once the purge brew is completed, take an unbent paperclip and open the brew head. Slide the end of the paperclip up into the three holes located around the puncture needle on the top of the brew chamber. When all three have been cleared, close the brew head and run another purge brew to clear out any coffee grounds that may have been loosened from the needle.

Periodic Maintenance

  • Remove the water filter holder from the water tank. The resin filter should be replaced every two months. During that replacement time, the filter holder should be cleaned as well. Wash the upper holder and the lower holder in warm soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  • Every 2 to 3 months, the brewer should be decalcified or descaled.
  • Fill the water tank with 1 part white vinegar and 1 part water.
  • Place a large empty container below the brew head and close the brew head with no K-Cup® or My K-Cup® filter inserted.
  • Brew through about 1/2 of the tank then allow the solution to remain in the machine for 2 hours up to over-night.
  • Empty the water tank and wash with warm soapy water, rinsing thoroughly.
  • Fill the water tank with fresh clean water and replace it in the brewer.
  • Brew through about 1/2 of the tank again, discarding the water that comes out.
